Press Release: Acadia Homes & Neighborhoods Honored with Five OBIE Awards

Atlanta New Home Builder Recognized for Best Interior Merchandising, Sales Center, Promotional Video and Sales Manager of the Year During the 34th Annual OBIE Awards

Atlanta, November 24, 2014 – After four solid years on Atlanta’s competitive housing scene, Acadia Homes & Neighborhoods continues to be recognized as one of city’s rising stars. On the heels of placing at #9 in the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s annual list of Top 20 Home Builders in Atlanta, Acadia Homes has been honored with five OBIEs during the 34th Annual OBIE Awards. Hosted each November by the Sales & Marketing Council of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association (GAHBA), this year’s event took place at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis and featured some of the city’s boldest and brightest builders, developers, remodelers, marketers, and real estate professionals. At the end of the evening, the Acadia team went back to their corporate headquarters with an armload full of OBIEs that included:

  • Sam Bass Headshot 7.25.14Sales Manager of the Year to Acadia Home’s VP of Sales & Marketing, Sam Bass: In addition to lively weekly sales meetings and regular appearances on Atlanta’s Best New Homes TV, Bass directly supervises an astounding 25 communities and 30 salespeople throughout Metro Atlanta. Under his watch in 2013, sales comprised 209 homes – representing more than $58M in total volume of new homes sold.
  • Gold OBIE for Best Interior Merchandising – Detached Model ($299,999 and under) to Sawyer Farms: The exquisitely adorned model home at this Acadia community in Grayson was designed by Tanaya Morgan Williams of Parlay Interiors. Showcasing the highest potential of the popular 3139 square foot Jackson floor plan where space is maximized without appearing cluttered, Williams masterfully illustrates “a step up” without making it appear out of reach.  Everything from color palette, to furnishings and finishes, to art and accessories were carefully selected to enhance the home and entice the buyer.
  • Silver OBIE for Best Interior Merchandising – Detached Model ($300,000 to $449,999) to Kirkwood Green: Located in Acadia Homes trendiest in-town community, the model home needed to evoke a sense of style and sophistication that would leave an indelible mark on guests. By enlisting the aid of designer Sandy Moon of Focus Design Interiors – whose designs have garnered Acadia OBIE Awards in the past – the home accomplishes that and more. The use of neutral colors with dark trim open up the rooms, while modern stylization offsets the period-influence of homes in the surrounding historic neighborhood in order to appeal to refined younger set.
  • Silver OBIE for Best Community Information/Sales Center to Acadia Homes’ new Design Gallery:Acadia Design Gallery-1 The entirely innovative and completely immersive Design Gallery – which just opened earlier this year – invites guests to “prepare to be inspired” through a series of interactive stations and imaginatively-displayed vignettes designed to appeal to a wide variety of tastes. While here, home buyers can select everything from paint colors and flooring to countertops and cabinets.
  • Silver OBIE for Best Audio-Video/DVD Promotion to the Acadia Homes Feature produced by Hometown Builder Television: The beautifully executed, professionally produced 6 minute video uses a news feature format to showcase Acadia Homes & Neighborhoods as a homebuilder that not only cares about its customers, but also the quality of the homes it builds. In addition to segments that feature CEO Gregg Goldenberg and numerous sweeping product shots, the video also uses testimonials from a variety of home buyers to secure credibility with the viewer – who is likely a prospective home buyer. The video appears on the homepage of AcadiaHomes.com and plays on a continuous loop in Acadia sales centers throughout Metro Atlanta.

Sawyer Farms Dining Room“Our work has resonated with the OBIE judges since the first time we entered a project in 2011,” recalled Gregg Goldenberg, President and CEO for Acadia Homes & Neighborhoods. “To date, we have been honored with 15 OBIE Awards in everything from landscape design and interior merchandising to urban revitalization and sales performance. That just goes to show that we are a very well-rounded company. I’m particularly proud of the fact that this year marks our best showing – as we grow our influence throughout Metro Atlanta, so follows the need for a larger trophy case. It is so fulfilling for me and my entire team to be recognized for our efforts by a distinguished panel of our peers. We’d like to thank the Sales & Marketing Council for hosting another stellar event. The fact that they had a packed house speaks volumes about the much-anticipated return of a healthy homebuilding industry in Atlanta.”

Acadia Home’s Design Gallery Honored with an OBIE Award

award_silver2014After opening their entirely innovative and completely immersive Design Gallery earlier this year, the Acadia Homes & Neighborhoods’ team already knew they had a real winner on their hands. Following the 34th Annual OBIE Awards – held on November 8 at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis – the rest of the Atlanta home building industry knew it, too. Honored with a Silver OBIE Award for Best Community Information/Sales Center, the Acadia Homes Design Gallery invites its guests to “prepare to be inspired” through a series of interactive stations and imaginatively-displayed vignettes designed to appeal to a wide variety of tastes. Each vignette – Craftsman, Contemporary, Transitional, and Traditional – combines tangible elements, visual images and digital technology to inspire visitors from the moment they enter the inviting museum-like space.

Acadia Design Gallery-1“Our Chief Operating Officer Michael Rosenberg and I worked closely with renowned designer, Jane Meagher in order to bring a unique vision to life,” recalls Laura Mahon, Director of Marketing for Acadia Homes & Neighborhoods. “We wanted a state-of-the-art experience that enhanced the home buying experience in ways it hasn’t been done before. Before this award, all of the accolades have been coming from our homebuyers who have found their time at the Design Gallery to be as fun and memorable as the day they first receive the keys to their brand new Acadia home. We have our exceedingly talented Design Gallery Manager Terance Manly to thank for that. He puts the function in the form every day.”

Kirkwood Green Scores a Silver OBIE for Acadia Homes

award_silver2014Nestled in the charming and historic Kirkwood neighborhood of Atlanta – near Virginia-Highland, Little Five Points and Downtown Decatur – Acadia Homes & NeighborhoodsKirkwood Green community is undoubtedly the trendiest in the popular new home builder’s roster. Designed to appeal to professional individuals and young couples who prefer an intown address for easy commute to work in Downtown Atlanta or in Emory Decatur area, Kirkwood Green also affords its residents access to the eclectic shopping, dining and nightlife scene that is synonymous with the area.

To design a model home that would appeal to Kirkwood Green’s target audience, Acadia Homes & Neighborhoods enlisted the talents of local designer, Sandy Moon of Focus Design Interiors, Inc. Sandy took target audience, latest trends, distinctive historic area, strong cultural base, and versatility of the living spaces into consideration when crafting her plan for the interior of this home. The result is a clean and sophisticated design that boasts a masculine flair with subtle feminine touches so that anyone who enters the space will feel welcome.

kirkwoodgreen-living2The use of neutral colors with dark trim serve to open up the rooms, while modern stylization offsets period-influence of the exterior of homes in the surrounding historic neighborhood in order to appeal to sophisticated younger set. In an effort to make the home particularly attractive to urban professionals, spa-like influences and special touches like a yoga room lend themselves to a zen-like and welcoming atmosphere that serves as a terrific psychological counterbalance to a “tough day at the office”. The overall result of the undeniable stylish quality of the design and appointments is that the interior leaves an indelible mark on guests of the home.

“A professionally merchandised model home builds confidence in our product,” explains Acadia Homes VP of Sales & Marketing, Sam Bass. “If done properly, it should inspire prospective homebuyers with imaginative design concepts for optimal livability & effective use of space. Kirkwood Green’s model home accomplishes that and so much more. It has a clean, cool and sophisticated vibe that resonates with the intown homebuyer.”

kirkwoodgreen-bedThe design was so effective that it caught the eye of the judges for the 34th Annual OBIE Awards held earlier this month. Kirkwood Green’s Model Home brought home the Silver OBIE Award for Best Interior Merchandising – Detached Model ($300,000-$449,999). It was one of five OBIE Awards that Acadia Homes won this year – including two Gold OBIEs.

To get to Kirkwood Green and tour its award-winning model home, take I-75/I-85 South to the Freedom Parkway Exit, Go East on Freedom Pkwy and make a right on Ponce de Leon. Turn right on Clifton Road, left on DeKalb Avenue. Follow for approximately 2 miles to a right onto Rocky Ford Road. Turn left onto Wisteria Way. Kirkwood Green will be on your right.

Acadia Homes & Neighborhoods Promotional Video Garners a Silver OBIE Award

Acadia Homes & Neighborhoods Promotional Video Screenshot

As the Atlanta real estate industry’s answer to Hollywood’s Emmy Awards, the Atlanta Sales & Marketing Council’s OBIE Awards for video production are considered quite an honor – particularly for those companies that receive them. During the 34th Annual OBIE Awards – hosted at the lovely Atlanta Marriott Marquis – Acadia Homes & Neighborhoods was recognized with a Silver OBIE Award in the Best Audio/Video Promotion for the company’s promotional video produced by Rich Noonan of Hometown Builder Television.

The beautifully executed, professionally produced 6 minute video uses a news feature format to showcase Acadia Homes & Neighborhoods as a homebuilder that not only cares about its customers, but also the quality of the homes it builds. In addition to segments that feature CEO Gregg Goldenberg and numerous sweeping product shots, the video also uses testimonials from a variety of home buyers to secure credibility with the viewer – who is likely a prospective home buyer.

award_silver2014“Because our company was established as recently as 2010, it is still relatively young and new among Atlanta home buyers,” explains Goldenberg. “This video is not only informative, but also helps establish credibility among homebuyers who may be unfamiliar with our name and our product. In order to appeal to a broad spectrum of Atlanta home buyers – from first time buyers to discerning luxury buyers – we must make building our credibility as major an objective as building our brand. This video lends a certain sense of legitimacy, integrity and staying power – quelling concerns for homebuyers that may be gun-shy in light of fears or actual experiences with builders who may have abandoned jobs or entire neighborhoods during the housing market crash.”

In addition to appearing on the homepage of www.AcadiaHomes.com, the video plays on a continuous loop in sales offices at Acadia communities throughout Metro Atlanta.

Model Home at Acadia’s Sawyer Farms Wins the Gold

Sawyer Farms Master Bedroom We are delighted to announce that Acadia Homes & Neighborhoods was honored with the Gold OBIE for Best Interior Merchandising-Detached Model ($299,999 and under) during the 34th Annual OBIE Awards on November 8, 2014. At the heart of this recognition was the new model home at our Sawyer Farms’ community in the City of Grayson. Designed by the talented Tanaya Morgan Williams of Parlay Interiors, this beautifully merchandised home showcases the highest potential of the popular 3139 square foot Jackson floor plan where space is maximized without appearing cluttered.  Throughout the home, Williams masterfully illustrates “a step up” without making it appear out of reach.  Everything from color palette, to furnishings and finishes, to art and accessories were carefully selected to enhance the home and entice the buyer.

Sawyer Farms Dining RoomHomes in Sawyer Farms exemplify Acadia’s legacy of affordable luxury by featuring 4-sided brick exteriors and thoughtfully laid out interiors priced from the mid $200’s – creating an undeniable allure for everyone from seasoned and established families to professional couples with young broods. The merchandising of Sawyer Farms’ model home is strategic in creating a connection with that target audience through a balancing act of spaces. In order for a move-up family to visualize their future at Sawyer, Williams chose a more sophisticated design for the study, media room and in-law suite. At the same time, she created a nursery and small child’s bedroom to illustrate that there are limitless possibilities that might appeal to a young family.  To create a seamless feel between living spaces, a calming yet stylish color palette is used throughout the home. Williams sends subtle, mixed messages of lux, affordability and value through the use of durable, practical, yet elegant fabrics and textures. The overall feel is luxurious, yet practical.

“Tanaya did so much more than design a number of living spaces to appeal to a broad audience,” explains Laura Mahon, Director of Marketing for Acadia Homes & Neighborhoods. “She has created a warm and welcoming atmosphere that instantly puts our guests at ease, while highlighting – rather than overshadowing – some of our model home’s finest features.”

Sawyer Farms KitchenWe encourage you to visit Sawyer Farms to experience this award-winning model home for yourself. While there, you and your family can take a tour of available homes and homesites in this Gwinnett County community poised along Grayson Highway and encompassed by acre after acre of wooded greenspace. In addition to stunning homes and picturesque landscape, Sawyer Farms offers its residents access to excellent schools and close proximity to retail and dining establishments at the Shoppes at Webb Gin. To get there from Atlanta, take Take 1-85N to GA-316E via exit 106 towards Lawrenceville/Athens. Take Sugarloaf exit and keep right to take the ramp toward the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds. Turn right onto Sugarloaf Parkway and travel 6.5 miles. Turn right onto Grayson Highway/GA-20 and travel 1.3 miles. Make u-turn across from Starling Elementary and community will be on your immediate right. Once inside the community, turn left and then take the first turn on the right. Sam Bass Headshot 7.25.14Sam Bass – VP of Sales & Marketing for Acadia Homes & Neighborhoods – was honored with the Gold OBIE Award from the Atlanta Sales & Marketing Council of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association during its 34th Annual OBIE Awards Gala. Hosted on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis in downtown Atlanta, the Gala included many of the city’s brightest stars in real estate, development, residential construction, and remodeling. Acadia Homes was proud to be included among them and went home with a total of five OBIE Awards – three Silver and two Gold, including Bass’ special recognition as Sales Manager of the Year.

In his role as VP of Sales & Marketing, Sam Bass directly supervises an astounding 25 communities and 30 salespeople throughout Metro Atlanta. In addition to regular appearances on Atlanta’s Best New Homes TV – under his watch in 2013, sales comprised 209 homes – representing $58,290,434 in total volume of new homes sold and 40% of sellable inventory. As busy as he is, Sam always makes time to host weekly sales meetings to convey company news, encourage solidarity and share ideas with his team – a diverse group of extremely skilled individuals of which he is most proud.

What his sales figures don’t show is the fact that Sam is the epitome of a loyal team player who brings a positive attitude to any task at hand. From a business standpoint, he is constantly looking to the future and encourages his team members to do the same. This makes him a valuable asset to the leadership at Acadia Homes & Neighborhoods. As a leader in his own right, Sam not only takes the time to listen to his team members’ needs, but is also fair, quick to action and understanding when special circumstances arise. He has been known to give a little extra to help his newest team members get on their feet or lend a hand to his most seasoned sales veterans in need. Sam is a unique kind of manager who rolls with the punches, but never ever throws one.

Beyond his capacity as VP, Sam stays deeply involved in the home building industry as a member of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association and Sales & Marketing Council. An active member of his church, he is also a devoted father and husband. A great man of integrity, Sam Bass is a trusted friend, dedicated mentor, and experienced broker.

“We are extremely happy for Sam, but not one bit surprised about his recognition as Sales Manager of the Year,” insists Gregg Goldenberg, President and CEO for Acadia Homes & Neighborhoods. “Everyone here is familiar with his unswerving positive attitude and progressive outlook. He works diligently to pull together an excellent team of sales associates to serve as the face of Acadia in our communities throughout Metro Atlanta, and regularly plays the dual roles of coach and cheerleader to help drive our sales. I think I speak for everyone on the team when I say that Sam is a cornerstone of our operation, and we are very fortunate to work with him every day.”
